Atlantis The Lost Empire (2001)

Directors Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise are responsible for Atlantis which is a Disney film that I always feel is a little overshadowed.  Both these directors are known for my favourite Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast, and Gary also wrote The Lion King so kudos to him!  My first memory of watching Atlantis was Primary school in year 6.  It was towards the end of term and we got to choose what we wanted to watch.  This was the year when projectors came into school and the school bought one for a year 6 classroom.  The choice was either Harry Potter or Atlantis.  I remember we had to get permission slips to watch Harry Potter because it was either a PG or 12, and anyone who didn't get their signed got to watch Atlantis instead.  I had already seen Harry Potter, I guess a lot of others did too but I chose Atlantis and about 10 of us watched the film together.  I remember how magical I thought everything was and my obsession with Atlantis started that day.

I have an obsession with Ancient Egypt and Atlantis almost falls under the bracket for me at least, in terms of a whole advanced civilisation.  I remember the main characters teal hair, at least I think it's teal since that's what in my memory!  I had to use a wig for this look and the background I created was made up of my eyes.  In the end the print seems to look very 60's/70's and I did this completely by accident.  I left it as I thought it was quite funny and it doesn't really work together but I'm not going to loose any sleep over it!
