Cleopatra Inspired Makeup Look

Cleopatra (1963)

From Atlantis to Ancient Egypt and here I took inspiration from Cleopatra.  I wanted to create my own version of a Cleopatra makeup look as I just feel like everyone copies the same look over and over again!  I like to take inspiration from ideas, and imitation is the only sign of a lack of imagination.  Again I used my memory to come up with an inspired makeup look and I'm really happy with the results.  I used a combination of gold spray and sand to create a textured look and the sand was collected from a beach in the south of France about 5 years ago (I thought it would come in handy one day!).  I used the colours of red, black and gold as I'd imagine Cleopatra to have blood red lips.  History seems to show her with either nude or light red coloured lips, but she was an Egyptian Pharaoh, nude lips say push over, light red say glamorous,  but blood red would say I'm the ruler of this Kingdom and no-one is taking that from me.  Cleopatra was actually the last Egyptian Pharaoh so maybe her lip colour was nude after all!
